How to Use AI to Redesign Your Room in 30 Seconds
Intirear Design Team
Interior Design & AI
I'm going to walk you through something that would have seemed like science fiction five years ago: transforming your room into a completely different design style using nothing but a phone photo and 30 seconds of your time. This isn't a gimmick or a filter. The result is a photorealistic image of your actual room, redesigned.
Here's exactly how to do it with Intirear.
Step 1: Take a Good Photo (10 Seconds)
Open your phone camera and take a photo of the room you want to redesign. A few quick tips to get the best result:
- Stand in a corner so you capture as much of the room as possible. The more the AI can see, the better the output.
- Use natural light. Open the curtains, turn off harsh artificial lights. Daylight produces the most accurate colors and the AI can better understand the space.
- Hold the phone level. Don't tilt up or down. Straight ahead, roughly at chest height. Tilted photos distort the perspective and the AI has to work harder to compensate.
- Include the floor and ceiling (or at least the top of the walls). This helps the AI understand the full room dimensions.
Don't overthink this. A quick phone snap in decent light works fine. You don't need a DSLR.
Step 2: Upload to Intirear (5 Seconds)
Go to Intirear's dashboardand start a new project. You'll see an upload area — tap it and select your photo from your camera roll. The photo uploads in a couple seconds.
At this point, Intirear's AI analyzes your room. It identifies the layout, furniture, walls, windows, floor type, and lighting conditions. This happens automatically in the background while you pick your style.
Step 3: Choose Your Style (10 Seconds)
You'll see a list of design styles to choose from. Some of the most popular:
- Modern: Clean lines, neutral palette, contemporary furniture
- Scandinavian: Light wood, warm whites, cozy textures
- Mid-Century Modern: Retro-inspired, warm tones, organic shapes
- Industrial: Raw materials, exposed elements, urban feel
- Minimalist: Ultra-clean, essentials only, lots of breathing room
- Bohemian: Colorful, layered, eclectic and pattern-rich
- Traditional: Classic, elegant, timeless elements
- Japandi: Japanese minimalism meets Scandinavian warmth
Not sure which to pick? Try the one you're most curious about. You can always go back and try others — that's the whole point.
Step 4: See the Result (5 Seconds)
Hit the redesign button and wait a few seconds. Intirear generates a photorealistic image of your room transformed into the style you selected. The room structure stays the same — same walls, same windows, same layout — but the furniture, colors, materials, and decor change to match your chosen style.
The first time you see it, there's genuinely a “wow” moment. Because it's your actual room, you can immediately tell whether the style works in that space. It's totally different from looking at a Pinterest photo of someone else's room and trying to imagine it in yours.
What to Do With Your Redesign
Now that you have a visualization, here's how to actually use it:
Compare Styles
Go back and generate the same room in three or four different styles. Put them side by side. You'll quickly develop a preference that might surprise you. A lot of people think they want “modern” and discover they actually prefer the warmth of Scandinavian or the character of mid-century.
Share for Feedback
Save the image and send it to your partner, roommate, or that friend with good taste. “What do you think of our living room looking like this?” is a way better conversation than “I was thinking maybe we should get a new sofa, I don't know, something modern maybe?”
Use It as a Shopping Reference
Take the visualization with you when you shop for furniture or decor. Show it to salespeople: “I'm going for this look.” It's much more effective than trying to describe a style in words.
Guide a Contractor or Painter
If you're painting or making bigger changes, show the visualization to your contractor. It communicates your vision instantly and reduces the back-and-forth of “no, not that shade of gray, the other shade of gray.”
Pro Tips for Better Results
- Try different rooms: Don't just do the living room. Your bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom might benefit even more from a style refresh.
- Try the same style multiple times: AI generation isn't deterministic. Running the same room and style twice might give you different interpretations, and one might click better than the other.
- Use the chat feature: Intirear's AI assistant can answer questions about your redesign. Ask things like “What paint color would match this look?” or “Where can I find a sofa like that?” for more specific guidance.
The 30-Second Version
Photo → Upload → Pick style → See result. That's it. Whatever you do with that visualization — full renovation, weekend project, or just daydreaming — is up to you. But at least now you know what's possible before you spend a dollar.
